Joplin, MO – Nine students recently graduated from Missouri Southern State University’s Radiologic Technologist Program, which is a joint effort with St. John’s Regional Medical Center Department of Radiology. Alan Schiska, program director, awarded diplomas. Dr. Thomas Ward with St. John’s radiology department has assisted Schiska with the program for more than 15 years.
St. John’s has been coordinating its radiology program with MSSU since 1973. Our recent graduates are among the more than 280 students who have completed the program. These graduates have gone on to serve patients in the Four State area.
MSSU offers more than 100 degree options in four schools. In addition to degrees in Radiologic Technology, MSSU offers both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a number of healthcare related fields. MSSU’s Radiologic Technology program and its students performed more than eight percent above state and national averages in testing conducted in 2008 by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Missouri Southern’s scoring average has been above 90 percent since 2002, and its students have a 100 percent pass rate on the National Radiologic Technologists certification exam.
