St. John’s MedFlight Hosts Open House

3/23/2009

Joplin, Mo. – St. John’s MedFlight will host and open house to celebrate the opening of its new base located at the Nevada Municipal Airport.  The celebration will take place at the Nevada Municipal Airport, E Highway 54, Nevada, Mo., on March 26 at 11:30 a.m.

The event will include a cookout, tours and explanations of the operations and a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Nevada Chamber of Commerce. The new aircraft will be on display for viewing.

The Nevada base will have an immediate service area of 75 nautical miles around the Nevada area, and a total service area of 150 nautical miles.  The new aircraft is a Eurocopter A-Star 350 B2 model.  With the opening of the Nevada base, critical care air medical transport is 22 minutes closer to Nevada and the surrounding area.

St. John’s MedFlight has been located in Joplin and has provided critical care to the Four State area since 1992.  “The opportunity to provide quality critical care air medical services to the citizens and medical community surrounding Nevada and across the region is exciting for us. Physicians and first responders now have a closer resource to choose from when transporting patients in the event of an emergency or when inter-facility transports are required for medical necessity,” said Rod Pace, St. John’s MedFlight manager.  “For critically ill or injured patients, time is a very important factor.  By locating a base in Nevada we are able to decrease the arrival times of critical care air medical transport services by more than 20 minutes in most instances.  Each minute saved means better opportunities for positive patient outcomes.”
