St. John’s Hosts Diabetes Open House
11/6/2008
Joplin, Mo. – St. John’s Nutrition, Wellness and Diabetes Center will host a Diabetes Open House in observance of American Diabetes Month. The open house will be held on Monday, November 10 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Main Lobby.
More than 20 million people in the United States have diabetes, yet nearly one third of those people are unaware that they have this serious and chronic disease. According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes is the leading cause of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputation.
St. John’s Diabetes Open House will feature information and resources to learn more about diabetes. Diabetes Aware™, an online risk assessment test, will also be available for participants to use. Diabetes Aware™ is a fast, free and confidential way to assess your risk of developing diabetes.
