St. John’s Mercy Regional Foundation will sponsor the 26th Annual St. John’s Walk for Hospice and Home Health on Saturday, September 13, 2008 Missouri Southern State University’s Leggett and Platt Athletic Center. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the walk will start at 10:00 a.m. Participants will be treated to a picnic lunch and fun activities for the whole family.
The first 200 registered walkers raising $50 or more are eligible for a free t-shirt. Individual grand prizes will be awarded for the most money colleted. In addition, walkers raising $25 or more will be eligible for door prizes. All walkers must be present at the picnic to receive their prizes. Businesses, schools, neighbors or any combination of at least three walkers can form Walk Teams. The teams raising the most money will receive a trophy and special recognition. Each person on a team will also be eligible for the individual grand prizes. Prizes will be awarded after the Walk.
The Walk is an annual fund-raiser to support St. John’s Hospice and Home Health. St. John’s Hospice is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to providing care and services for the terminally ill and their families. St. John’s Home Health services include skilled nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, nurse aides, social services and occupational therapy provided in the patient’s home.
Consistent with the philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, St. John’s Hospice and Home Health are committed to serving those in need, regardless of availability of insurance or ability to pay. St. John’s Hospice is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.
