St. John’s Employees Named Officers of HFMA

Joplin, MO – St. John’s Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that the Show-Me of Missouri Chapter of Healthcare Financial Managers Association (HFMA) has named two employees, Shelly Hunter, FHFMA, MBA and Kory Stout as officers. Hunter will serve as president and Stout will serve as secretary for the 2008-09 year. Their terms began June 1.
Hunter has also been honored with the Robert H. Reeves Silver Award for service to the chapter. This award recognizes outstanding contributions, which contributed to chapter growth and success.
Shelly Hunter is the director of strategy and business development for St. John’s. She has experience in strategic and financial planning both in healthcare and general industry. As a member of HFMA since 1999, Hunter has held various leadership positions in the group including: vice-president, newsletter chair, certification committee member, program committee chair, and internet committee member. She also serves as a chapter certification exam proctor and coaching instructor.
Hunter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration. Hunter serves as president of the board of directors for the Joplin office of National Adult Literacy Action, is a member of Soroptomist International, a volunteer member of Joplin Chamber of Commerce committees and a member of United Way Women’s Leadership Group. She is also currently a member of the advisory board of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.
Kory Stout is the senior audit manager for Catholic Healthcare Audit Network (CHAN) serving St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend, Ks. and St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Ks.
A member of HFMA since June 2006, Stout looks forward to being involved and assisting in the future development of the Show-Me of Missouri Chapter.
Stout holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a minor in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University. Stout serves as treasurer of the board of directors for the House of Ruth’s Women’s Resource Clinic in Republic, Mo.
