St. John’s Supports Heart Month By Wearing Red

St. John’s Regional Medical Center will join thousands of Americans nationwide in celebrating National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 1, by asking all employees wear red to work. The event will include a reception in the Main Lobby at 2:00 p.m. followed by a photo of all employees participating in National Wear Red Day. St. John’s employees will continue to wear red each Friday in February in observance of Heart Month.

According to David Morris, PR/Marketing Director, "St. John’s is excited to participate in Wear Red Day again this year. We are committed to increasing awareness of heart-related illnesses and hope our participation in this event will remind people of the importance of a healthy heart."

St. John’s National Wear Red Day activities are in partnership with American Heart Month, a national awareness campaign about heart disease, risk factors and how to prevent it. St. John’s will offer a “Matter’s of The Heart” fair on Saturday, February 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It’s free to the public and will feature heart-related information, guest speakers, blood pressure and lipid panel screenings, and our new HeartAware program.

National Wear Red Day is an annual event held on the first Friday in February. The first observance, in February 2004, was announced at the White House. On National Wear Red Day, women and men across the country wear red to unite in the national movement to give women a personal and urgent wake-up call about their risk of heart disease. Everyone can participate in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, tie, or by wearing the Red Dress Pin (available at www.heartruth.gov).

**We would like to invite all media to join us for a reception in the Main Lobby on Friday, February 1, at 2 p.m.
