St. John’s SportsCare honors high school athletes

Featured Speaker is former KU Football Player

The St. John’s SportsCare program is recognizing the talents of local athletes from 24 area high schools. A banquet is being held in their honor on May 3rd from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Butcher’s Block Banquet Center located at 499 W. Fountain Road in Joplin.

The event will recognize a male and female athlete from each high school. Schools represented include: Baxter Springs, Riverton, Galena, Pittsburg, St. Mary’s/Colgan, Frontenac, Carl Junction, Webb City, Joplin, East Newton, McAuley, Diamond, Carthage, Seneca, Thomas Jefferson, Neosho, College Heights Christian, McDonald County, Sarcoxie, Quapaw, Commerce, Picher, Grove, and Girard.

The students were nominated by a SportsCare panel and selected by their respective school officials. Students, parents, school athletic directors and principles are invited to attend.

Our featured speaker is Fred Osborn, president of local Commerce Banks and former University of Kansas football player. He will speak about his successes in life and how being an athlete contributes to your overall success. Osborn will speak at 12:00 noon.
