St. John’s Announces Honor For Cancer Program
St. John’s Regional Medical Center has received the high honor of Three-Year Approval with Commendation from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC).
St. John’s has received a Three-Year Approval with Commendation following the on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor. St. John’s demonstrated a Commendation level of compliance with all standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program (cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement) in addition to receiving compliance ratings for all other standards evaluated during the survey.
Receiving care at a Commission on Cancer approved facility means patients will receive:
- Comprehensive care, including state-of-the-art services and equipment
- A multi-specialty, team approach to coordinate the best treatment options
- Information about and access to national ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options
- Access to cancer-related information, education and support
- A Cancer Registry that collects data on the type and stage of cancers and treatment results and offers lifelong patient follow-up
- Ongoing monitoring and improvement of care
- Quality care close to home
