St. John’s Introduces New HeartAware Program
St. John’s Regional Medical Center has selected HeartAware as a tool to enhance its cardiovascular outreach program. This is part of our continuing effort to identify those who are at risk for heart disease in the four-state area. HeartAware is an interactive online personal health risk questionnaire that takes less than seven minutes to complete. After the assessment is completed, each participant will be given an immediate personalized report that indicates his or her overall risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
After the questionnaire is assessed, those participants who are found to be at risk will be offered recommendations for further cardiovascular screenings to reduce risk, and even contact primary care physicians if desired.
Heart disease continues to be the number one killer of American men and women. Last year, 750,000 Americans died from heart disease and almost half of them had no symptoms prior to their first event, which was death. St. John’s goal is to help prevent this from happening.
“I’m really excited about this,” said St. John’s Cardiologist, Dr. James Hoff. “We want to keep our patients living well. St. John’s is proud to be a part of the HeartAware program, which is exclusive to our market. Our goal is to focus on the early detection and prevention of heart disease by getting everyone in the community to take the online test. It’s never too late to get healthy and reduce your risk of heart disease.”
