St. John’s Teams With Joplin Fire Department And METS For Disaster Drill

St. John’s Regional Medical Center is committed to keeping patients safe. In keeping with that commitment, we are teaming with Joplin Fire Department and METS to execute a disaster drill on Thursday, September 27. The goal is for hospital employees to be adequately equipped to handle evacuating patients and staff in the event of a crisis where rescue workers might not be available to assist in an evacuation.

St. John’s is one of only 16 hospitals in Missouri to receive patient tracking equipment that can be used inside or outside the hospital. The drill will serve as a training course for employees to learn to use the tracking equipment.

There will be an Incident Command Center shelter set up outside the building where people would report in the event of a disaster. The shelter will also feature St. John’s Mass Casualty Incident Trailer as part of the central information location.

To learn more about St. John’s disaster program call 417.627.8336.

We invite media to come to St. John’s Thursday, September 27 at 10 am for interviews and a tour of the Incident Command Center.
