St. John’s Regional Medical Center invites you to attend a special retirement celebration for Colleen Harshman, LPN, who is retiring after 58 years of service. A special reception is being held in her honor on Friday, July 14, 2006 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm in St. John’s Mercy Conference Center.
Colleen began working at St. John’s as a nurse aide on July 16, 1948 in the post-op surgical unit. Today, she still works in the same department. At one time, five members of Colleen’s family worked at St. John’s. One of her daughters still works here.
“Colleen has touched so many people in her years of service, including patients and staff. She is very caring and well-liked by everyone,” says Terry Holman, RN, Nurse Manager for St. John’s Post-Surgical Unit. “You can’t miss her on the floor. She still proudly wears her nurses cap and white (uniform).”
In her 58 years of service at St. John’s, Colleen has witnessed a number of changes, including the move of the hospital from 22nd and Jackson to the current location, the construction of the Brady Building, and the recent completion of our Bed Tower Renovation, including the floor in which she works.
Colleen was recently recognized for her years of service by being honored locally with a Nurse of Excellence Award for LPN’s. Please join us in recognizing her accomplishments and contributions to the community.
