Joint celebration with 10th Anniversary of CHI

St. John's Regional Medical Center plans to celebrate its 110th anniversary with a special prayer service on Monday, May 15th at 10:30 a.m., in St. John’s Mercy Conference Center. The celebration will also recognize the 10th anniversary of our parent company, Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), based in Denver, Colorado. Prayer services at other Catholic Health Initiatives’ health care facilities and administrative offices, which are spread across 19 states, will be held on the same day.

“This is an opportunity for us to pause, reflect and celebrate our connection with a national health ministry that supports us in caring for our community,” said Debbie Linnes, interim president and chief executive officer of St. John's Regional Medical Center.

Founded by the Sisters of Mercy back in 1896, St. John’s has grown into a modern, 367 bed, comprehensive health care system, serving 19 counties in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Catholic Health Initiatives was formed in 1996 by ten congregations of religious women who sought to strengthen their health ministries through consolidation. St. John’s has been a part of CHI since its birth.

“The sisters took a huge step in faith,” said Kevin Lofton, president and chief executive officer of Catholic Health Initiatives. “Today, Catholic Health Initiatives is living their vision: to transform health care delivery and create new ministries for the promotion of healthy communities.”

Following the prayer service celebration, employees will enjoy lunch and gifts provided by the hospital. The festivities will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in St. John’s Courtyard.
