Mercy Regional Foundation
Planned Giving
The Foundation’s Board of Directors established the Legacy Society to recognize individuals who have included Mercy Regional Foundation in their estate plans. Through their bequests and other planned gifts, Legacy Society members share a commitment to the future of quality regional health services and have demonstrated their foresight and dedication by including the Foundation in their estate plans.
A gift included in your will or living trust is one way to establish a lasting legacy. By having your attorney revise or add a simple amendment to your will or living trust, you can make a gift of a specific dollar amount, establish a percentage of your estate which you wish to give, or what is left after providing for the needs of your loved ones.
Consider gifts of life insurance. Gifts of policies or proceeds you may no longer need offer excellent tax benefits to the donor.
With a Charitable Gift Annuity, you make a gift to the Foundation and receive a fixed annual payment for life. The payment amounts are based on the age of the recipient(s). You enjoy an immediate charitable tax deduction for a portion of the gift, reduced estate and probate costs, and a new source of lifetime income, some of it tax-free.
People are often surprised to learn how much of their IRA, 401(k) or other retirement plan assets can be lost to taxes at their death. It is possible to use your IRA or other retirement plan to benefit both your family and the future of the Foundation, with important tax benefits.
Life income gifts can be a tax-effective way to provide for yourself and/or someone you designate with regular payments for life. An Annuity Trust pays a fixed dollar amount, while a Unitrust provides a variable income. A charitable tax deduction is available for a portion of the assets placed in trust. You benefit from reduced estate and probate costs and capital gains tax can be avoided when the trusts are funded with appreciated property.
Membership in the Legacy Society is offered to all individuals who have made a planned gift commitment to the Foundation. For more information about ways you can leave a Legacy, please contact David Dillon at 417-625-2266.
