St. John's Hospice opened in 1980 as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to serving the terminally ill and their families. Services provided include:

- Therapy services
- Counseling
- Short-term inpatient care
- Equipment and supplies
- Medications
- Bereavement services
- Home health aide
- Physician services
- Volunteer services
- Respite care
- Continuous care
- Spiritual services
St. John's Hospice has been Medicare certified since 1988. The program also is accredited by the JCAHO and licensed in Missouri and Kansas. Additional memberships include the Missouri and Kansas Hospice Organizations.
