Medical care often involves instruments that poke and prod. So it should come as no surprise that music instruments can help you with your healing. Music therapy is making a big impact and more doctors are encouraging it with their patients. Music has been known to relieve stress, reduce pain, ease depression, alleviate nausea and improve sleep. Some doctors are even using music in neonatal units. New research shows that music increases the sucking rate of premature babies, enabling them to increase their weight.

What about those herbal supplements that claim to treat or prevent a host of conditions and symptoms, including arthritis, headaches and colds. Doctors say, do your homework. Some of these products may contain potential allergens and chemicals that can make you sick -- and they don’t put that on the label.

With the recent changes to Medicare, it’s no surprise that many of you have questions. St. John’s wants to help with a FREE seminar about Medicare Part D & approved PPO plan. The talk will be held at St. John’s on Tuesday, June 20 at 1:00 in the afternoon. For more information, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000.
