St. John's HealthMinute

If you are like most Americans, you do NOT get enough sleep at night. Sleepiness is serious. It contributes to a significant number of driving deaths as well as other accidents each year in the U.S. The amount of sleep you need may have little to do with the amount you actually get. One common cause of daily grogginess is obstructive sleep apnea, a condition in which breathing stops for several seconds during sleep. The cut-off in air and oxygen stress the heart, brain and other organs and can continually jolt people awake - a risky, exhausting syndrome. The only way to be sure if you have obstructive sleep apnea is to be tested by a physician or hospital sleep center, like the one at St. John’s.

Here’s something to wake you up and get you out of your daily routine. Think about heading to St. John’s nights at Joe Becker Stadium. Come on out and watch the Slashers, starting tonight at 7:00. St. John’s Sportscare is hosting three nights with prizes and games planned during the innings. It’s just $3.00 at the gate, and all Little Leaguers wearing their uniform receive free admission. Also, tonight is your chance to meet the K.C. Wolf Mascot. For more information, log onto stj.com and we’ll see you at the ballpark!
