St. John's HealthMinute

6/12/2006

We all get stressed at some point, whether it’s the kids or work. And your doctor would tell you that stress is not good for you. So the next time you feel your stress level rising, take a moment and try one of these easy techniques. #1 - get some physical exercise. Sometimes a good run is all you need. #2 - Take a warm bath or shower. Ladies know what I’m talking about. #3 - Count to ten when you really feel like screaming. Although screaming may seem like the best option, choose the alternative. And finally, the next time you feel stressed, pour yourself a cup of warm herbal tea. Now, I know an alcoholic drink may sound more appealing, but the tea has a calming effect and can help you relax.

If you don’t relax, you could be putting your heart at risk. And you’ve probably heard the tips, exercise more, watch your diet and go to the doctor regularly. But let’s face it - sometimes we need a little motivation. So mark this on your calendar. St. John’s will be hosting a health talk - Get moving for your heart, tomorrow at Northpark Mall. It starts at 5:30 in the evening. For more information, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000.
