Regardless of what you’ve heard in the past, starting a weight-loss plan does not mean giving up the foods you love. Experts say, you can have your weight loss and eat cake, too – as long as you splurge the sensible way. The key to maintaining control is in deciding what you want, how much you'll have, and then to eat it with full consciousness-lick your lips, and then move on with your life. So if you like ice cream, go ahead and dish up a bowl, just make sure it’s a small bowl and savor every bite. And if you feel the urge to lick the bowl, go ahead.
Here’s another quick way to watch what you eat. Serve your food on smaller plates and bowls. Instead of reaching for the dinner plate, put your food on the salad plate. It will help you from dishing up too much.
If you had to pick one thing you don’t like about your body, would varicose veins be near the top of that list? If you said yes, St. John’s has the perfect health talk for you. Dr. James Young will be speaking on the topic on Tuesday, August 8th from 5:30 – 6:30 pm at our Health Connection inside Northpark Mall. For more information, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000.
