St. John's HealthMinute

1/5/2006

Exercise is work, and weight loss doesn't happen overnight. We have a tendency to get frustrated, and hit the couch. Need a good reason to stick with that resolution this year? How about 6. #1 – You’ll live longer. #2 – it’ll make your work more tolerable. 3 - you’ll help out your heart, 4 - you can defeat diabetes, #5 – you can build a better back and #6 – you will get rid of the hidden fat. Health experts recommend you keep these in mind the next time your couch starts calling your name.

It seems men are taking more of an interest in their health. In a new study, the men polled could answer a few key facts. For instance, 78 percent knew their blood pressure level and 60 percent knew how high their cholesterol is. Although, the survey also found 4 percent of the men hadn't gone to the doctor in more than five years. Three percent said they couldn't remember the last time they went, and 4 percent said they just don't go to doctors.
