St. John's HealthMinute

2/20/2006

With cold and flu season in full swing, parents who pay attention to hygiene and nutrition can boost the odds that their children will stay healthy -- or at least healthier than last year. The most important thing is to remind kids to wash their hands frequently. Germ-laden hands are the most common source of bacteria, and frequent hand-washing will reduce the number of colds and infections.

Another way to protect your kids is to get them flu shots. And although doctors are seeing a number of cases, it’s NOT too late to get one, so St. John’s is offering FREE flu shots while supplies last at St. John’s Express Care, located at 13th and Rangeline in Joplin.

It’s no secret, CPR saves lives. If you’ve ever said to yourself, I need to have proper CPR training, or maybe you just need a refresher course. Now’s your chance. St. John’s will be holding a CPR class tomorrow from 8 to noon. For more info and to sign up, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000.
