When it comes to salads are you a chopper or shopper? Nowadays you can buy bagged salad greens and cut out the time of washing and spinning on your own. But is it worth it? In reality, you're probably saving yourself no more than five minutes by buying these pricey bags. But to many, those five minutes make it a lot more likely that salad will be served. And when you consider all the waste that occurs when you wash and trim a head of lettuce yourself, the extra cost is probably just a few cents. So which bagged salad greens give you more bang for your three bucks? In terms of nutrients, the spinach and Romaine lettuce options are your best bets.
Although 10 million men and women have osteoporosis, relatively few people have been diagnosed or treated. Osteoporosis is often called a “silent disease” because there are no symptoms: you can’t feel your bones becoming weak. But a simple bone density test can tell you about your risks. So mark this on your calendar. St. John’s will be providing a FREE bone density screening, tomorrow from 1-3 at our Health Connection location inside Northpark Mall. For more information and to register, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
